Apple unveils enhanced iCloud.com experience with streamlined features
DIMAPUR — In the wake of recent updates to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, Apple continues its streak of innovation by introducing a revamped iCloud.com website. This redesign boasts enhanced functionality, providing users with a more dynamic and intuitive experience.
Among the notable additions is the introduction of browser notifications for Mail and Calendar on PCs. This feature allows users to stay updated on their emails and events seamlessly, further bridging the gap between Apple’s ecosystem and personal computers. The customisable home page takes centre stage, offering users the ability to perform quick actions, such as downloading files, managing emails, marking items unread, and checking off tasks from reminders directly from the home interface.
Building on last year’s redesign, which introduced quick-glance widgets for apps like Notes and Pages, this year’s update focuses on increasing user engagement. Users can now take immediate action from the home page, streamlining their workflow. The iCloud Drive experience is also revamped, featuring a new list view and a preview option for files before downloading. Pressing the spacebar after selecting a file provides a sneak peek, enhancing user control and efficiency.
Notably, the new iCloud website extends support for browser notifications on PCs, notifying users of events like iCloud emails and Calendar invitations. Users can now insert links from one note to another, mirroring the functionality introduced in iOS 17.
In a bid to empower users further, Apple has introduced the ability to create an iCloud email address directly from the web. The “undo send” operation adds an extra layer of control, allowing users to retract emails if needed. Attaching files and photos directly from iCloud Drive or Photos is now seamlessly integrated into the web interface.
The iCloud Photos web app undergoes a significant upgrade, incorporating support for Memories and a slideshow view. These enhancements contribute to a richer visual experience for users navigating their photo collections.
With this array of updates, casual iCloud users can easily leverage the iCloud website as a web app on macOS Sonoma, which was rolled out to users earlier this week.
