American tech giant Apple announced on Saturday that it will begin adding more app-related advertisements to the Apple App Store.

According to an email obtained by MacRumors, Apple will start introducing two further ad types to the App Store starting October 25. The company plans to start selling ad space within the “Today” tab and at the bottom of individual app listings in all countries apart from China. When they do, the adverts will have a blue backdrop symbol to set them apart from other suggestions.

“With a Today tab ad, your app can appear prominently on the front page of the App Store – making it some of the first content users see when they begin their App Store visit,” the company wrote in a blog post. “The prominence of this placement makes it a good option to drive awareness of your app, especially for new content launches, special events, and seasonal promotions. Note that Today tab ads aren’t currently available on the App Store in mainland China.”

The Today tab, which until now only displayed material that had been carefully picked by the App Store editorial team without any paid placement, will soon allow developers to put adverts. Developers can also promote their apps on the sites of other apps thanks to the “You Might Also Like” section.

“Once your custom product page has been approved in App Store Connect, it will then need to be approved by Apple Search Ads to be used for advertising,” stated the Cupertino based company.

Apple has been selling ad spaces inside App Store and Apple News, however, the company wants to put even more ads inside its services. In a recent article for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman stated that the company’s goal for the coming several years is to almost triple its advertising revenue to $10 billion yearly.
