Although there are plethora of things yet to be done in our towns and localities, the number one thingAWOL is the toilet and proper washrooms for the general publics. It is a big shame that for all these long years, no proper facilities have been provided even in the mostinhabitant towns like Dimapur and Kohima. The lack of water and space in our towns can bea reason for that. Nevertheless, commuters, shoppers and travellers find it difficult to adapt to a place with no proper toilets when the call of nature arrive abruptly.Hence, it is pertinent that proper washrooms be installed in almost every nook and corner of our towns. The age-old Indian bathrooms and Western commutes systems will not be very efficient in solving this problem. Till date, no proper facilities of bathrooms and privies have been provided by the concerned authorities in our towns. Therefore, it is pertinent that the municipal committee must bring out a possible ways and means to solve this needful thing in our localitiesat the earliest.I was spellbound by reading through a column which appeared in the Morung Express dated 15th March 2016 about a hamlet in Kerala on utilizing the first eToilet in the world. This significant technology can turn waste into fertilisers, generates power and even make potable water. Not only that, the water that comes out as waste from the toilets can be recycled and can be used for flushing, while the solid waste is converted into nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium which is stored and used as fertilisers. The gas from urine can also be converted into methane and is usable for burning. Not only that, this hi-tech machine is programmed to flush 1.5 litres of water after three minutes of usage or 4.5 litres if usage is longer. They are also programmed to clean the platform with a complete wash down after 10 or so after being used. A coin opens the door for the users and switches on a light-thus saving energy-and directs the person with audio commands. Eram is the sole manufacturer of eToilets in India and has set up more than 1,600 eToiletsin around 19 states.
ThiseToilet sounds incredible and therefore, I would credibly suggest to the concerned town municipal authorities to quickly implement this recent developed eToilet in our towns and localities for the well-being of the populaces. It will certainly boost the sanitations of the town and bring cleanliness to our vicinities. Thank you.
