KOHIMA — The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has decided to conduct a visit to the disputed Kezoltsa/Koziirii/Kazing area on March 21 to “verify” whether Manipur police personnel have indeed departed from the site.

Earlier, the Mao Council as well as the Tenyimi People’s Organisation (TPO), in separate circulars, maintained that police personnel have been withdrawn from the disputed site.

However, APO president Razouvotuo Chatsu expressed distrust, claiming that they have been “cheated” on multiple occasions and have lost their trust in the Mao people. To ascertain the ground reality, the APO intends to personally visit the site and verify the situation.

He also voiced dissatisfaction regarding the lack of official communication from the Manipur government regarding the withdrawal of police from the disputed site.

He contended that a ‘proper government official order’ should have been issued to ensure the legitimacy of the withdrawal.

“Otherwise, if they simply withdraw the police, anytime again (because infrastructure are still there) they may come back and occupy,” Chatsu maintained.

The Manipur government should have given written confirmation as the Apo has also given everything in written, he added.

Chatsu went on to say that the APO’s ultimatum to the Mao Council had expired on February 20 and even the Angami Youth Organisation’s eviction notice expired on March 17. However, till today no proper decision, no official order from the Manipur government had come out.

Regarding the Mao Council’s letter dated March 19, Chatsu dismissed their continual communication about progress and meeting reports concerning the disputed site, and clarified that APO is not seeking updates on these matters.

Furthermore, he revealed that the executive meeting of APO held on Tuesday failed to reach a conclusive decision, and no resolutions could be brought out.
