Firecrackers, loud music, trouble mongers banned Dimapur, November 23: The Angami Public Organization (APO) has cautioned security forces and the Naga underground groups, banned firecrackers of any kind in any situation, besides cautioning troublemakers in Kohima especially with the festive season approaching. The APO and its youth organization will monitor the situation and ensure that peace prevails, the organization has stated. The APO issued a press release on Wednesday stating to aim at efforts to “sustain the prevailing peaceful atmosphere under its jurisdiction and elsewhere.” “On the subject of law and order, APO reiterating its stand and will not allow its land to be a killing zone for any purpose or issue and will not endorse to any activity / programs that disrupt public / civil safety and convenience,” the organization stated. The organization has advised avoiding situations that ‘may create strained atmosphere or fallouts.’ The APO has urged the security personnel and the Naga underground groups to ‘maintain utmost restraint and to rein in discipline within their ranks and files of their respective cadres.’ “Kohima by far and large is the home to all peace loving people and APO being the host have the legal and moral obligation and will not remain mute to anybody / group/ organization that harbour / perpetrate violence and infringe the peace of the land,” the tribal organization asserted. Further, the APO has advised that with the festive season and major state programs round the corner, particularly at Kohima, “social and public etiquettes” need to be maintained. “Social problems of communal / gang fights / reckless driving without any safety norms / loud music at odd times / provocative youth in inebriated moods etc are certain matters that needs to be controlled and dealt with under firm laws. Pertaining to this APO urges the administration and police personnel to promptly react to secure the convenience of all,” the APO stated. Another issue that the APO broached was “environmental issue.” Environmental issues have “become a demanding subject” that “needs to be sensitized and addressed.” To this, the organization has banned sale or bursting of firecrackers of any kind, under any situation. It is prohibited, the APO stated. “APO will monitor the implementation of this particular issue through its youth organization. As a peoples’ mandated organization, APO will always continue to be a confident partner to all and will always strive for peace, prosperity and the wellbeing of the society irrespective of tribal, political and ideological affiliations,” the press release added.
