APO and CPO appeals parties and candidates

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): The Angami Public Organisation(APO) and the Chakesang Public Organisation(CPO) has on Thursday appealed to all the political parties and the intending candidates to abstain from the ongoing process for the assembly elections.

“Therefore, the Apex Tribal Hohos fervently call upon all political parties and intending candidates to truthfully display their Naga patriotic sense to create space and a conducive atmosphere by abstaining from involving in the electioneering processes and filing of nominations to contest as candidates,” stated a joint statement from the two apex organisations.

It stated that the core committee of all the ‘ Apex Tribal Hohos’, that was formed after the crisis over the conduct of elections to the Urban Local Bodies in 2017, had its fifth joint meeting on Jan. 24 wherein the ‘socio-political situation with regards to the ongoing Naga Peace Talks between the Government of India and the Naga National Political groups ‘ was discussed at length.

It stated that it is the ‘unified voice’ and the desire of the people of Nagaland that conduct of the state election to the 13th Legislative Assembly of Nagaland at such a juncture is not ‘felicitous’.
