The All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioners of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills district, Halflong on Monday seeking security for Mizos and other tribes living in the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills district.

The memorandum stated, “We express our deepest sorrow over the killing of six Assam police personnel along the Assam-Mizoram border in Borok valley. We pray that the Almighty bestow peace to the bereaved families and recover those who have been injured. We hope that all the border disputes will be amicably settled among the states concerned. In the matter of the tension arising out of the conflict between Assam and Mizoram, we assure you that the people of the three hills districts will not do any harm to the Mizos living in or outside the districts. We request the district administration of the three districts to strengthen security measures for protection of Mizos and other tribal people, who have close affinity to the Mizos”.

“Certain secret agents and provocateurs have been at work to create clashes among the tribes people since 2002 in these three hills districts to harm the Mizos and any of the tribes people taking advantage of the conflict between Assam police and Mizoram police. Therefore, we request security for the Mizos and to take appropriate steps to prevent any clash among all tribes and communities of the people of the districts under your control in view of the recent Assam-Mizoram conflict”, it added.
