Diphu, July 20 (EMN): The All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) on Tuesday issued a press statement demanding compensation for land and jerath from the concerned arbitrator regarding construction of national highway four-Lane.
The press statement said, 'It is authoritatively learnt from the office of the commissioner, Central Assam Division, Nagaon that the commissioner, Central Assam Division is the arbitrator in the matter of financial compensation for the land and jerath taken by the National Highway Authority of India for construction of four-lane National Highway from Doboka to Dimapur. The arbitrator, appointed by the government of India in concurrence with the government of Assam, should compensate for all complaint cases against him. The arbitrator takes up cases under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and the National Highways Act, 1956. Under the Schedule of National Highway, the National Highway from Doboka via Manja to Dimapur is listed at Serial No. 252 and NH No. 329'.
'Any person whose land and jerath have been taken over by the Four-Lane National Highway from Dobaka to Dimapur may submit a petition to the arbitrator and commissioner, Central Assam Division, Nagaon if he or she is dissatisfied with the compensation amount he or she has received. Those whose land and jerath have not been properly measured may also submit a complaint petition to the arbitrator', it stated.
'At present, the arbitrator has his office in the Office of the Commissioner, Lower Assam Division at Panbazar, Guwahati-1. APHLC suggested that the real owners should receive the correct amount of compensation for their land and jerath requisitioned by the authority for construction of Doboka-Dimapur National Highway Four-Lane', the statement added.
