APHLC condemns MP’s parrot jibe
The All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) slammed Member of Parliament (MP), Horensing Bey for allegedly comparing APHLC workers to “parrots” at the Chief Executive Member (CEM) public interaction programme held at Majung under Sarupathar Constituency on January 28.
Addressing a press conference at the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) on Monday, APHLC spokesperson, Angtong Ingti Kathar said, ‘CEM interaction programmes, which is being organised by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in every constituency is valueless because in every interaction programme, government officials are present and accompanied to CEM Tuliram Ronghang. But instead of public interaction, MP Horensing Bey attacked the APHLC party; it was purely a government and not a political party programme. CEM Ronghang himself should come out and clarify the motive behind organising the public interaction programme’.
Kathar also said it was good to organise a public interaction programme so that problems and grievances could be heard by the government ‘but it is just a waste of government money’.
Kathar also claimed that the interaction programme was an ‘election campaigning programme as the MP election is scheduled next year’.
‘We condemn the statement of MP Horensing Bey for denoting parrot birds since there are thousands of APHLC supporters. We will continue with our movement until our needs are fulfilled,’ added Kathar.
