Apex Legends coming to Steam on November 4 and new character reveal trailer
Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Electronic Arts’ (EA) first-person shooter battle royale game Apex Legends is finally coming to Steam on November 4, the company has announced in a statement.
Apart from the announcement, EA also rolled out a new “Stories From The Outlands” trailer introducing the next Apex legend: Dr. Mary Somers also known as Horizon.
Chad Grenier, Game Director on Apex Legends, announced in a blog post EA’s plans to bring Apex Legends to Steam and the Nintendo Switch.
“First, for PC players, Apex Legends is officially coming to Steam when Season 7 launches on November 4, 2020. If you play on Steam and you’re new to Apex Legends, we can’t wait to welcome you aboard. And if you’ve previously been playing on Origin, feel free to give it a spin on Steam—all your account progression and unlocks will carry over between the two platforms,” Grenier wrote.
However, Grenier informed that the company will take some more time to bring the game to Nintendo Switch.
Grenier wrote: “Second, for those who game on the Nintendo Switch, we’re still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don’t want to rush anything out. Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it’ll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.”
Apex Legends will be made available on Steam the same day Season 7 launches worldwide i.e. November 4. The new season will start on a new map called Olympus, the home planet of the new Apex Legend: Horizon.
The new character’s back story was revealed in a new trailer that EA rolled out yesterday.
Dr. Mary Somers is tasked with searching for energy crystals that could save her home planet of Olympus. But before she embarked on her journey to save her world, she made a promise to her son that she will return home after her mission.
Somers manages to find the energy crystals but she is ultimately betrayed by her mission partner and left to die at the edge of, what seems to be, a massive black hole.
Somers survives her perilous fate with the help of the energy crystals and returns home as promised. But she is 87 years too late and her home world of Olympus is left in ruins.
