Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): The brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Sotai Kri, also advisor to the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, visited Kohima as part of a Green Clean India Mission 2020 programme, on Nov. 10. He was accompanied by 18 members from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, the DIPR stated in an update on Sunday.
Sotai Kri said that the visit was to promote the message of the importance of having clean surroundings and proper sanitation starting at home. As a brand ambassador in the Northeast, he has toured Maghalaya, Tripura, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh and reached Nagaland after which he will be visiting Manipur, Mizoram and Sikkim, the updates stated.
Stating that the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) cannot do the job along without the participation of every citizen, Kri urged the people to take active part in their respective area and to contribute towards achieving the goal of the sanitation mission. He appreciated the KMC for ‘doing a good job in keeping the city clean and further encouraged them to continue with their good work in future,’ the DIPR stated. He added that the wards’ chairmen and members, students, government employees and the public in general needs to be educated about the cause for the success of the mission.
The visiting team and members of the district administration and KMC ‘conducted a cleanliness drive’ in various locations of Kohima town, the updates added.
PB Acharya, the governor of Nagaland, the mission’s national brand ambassador, hosted a dinner at Raj Bhavan in Kohima for the visiting team, the updates stated.
