DIMAPUR —The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) and the Zeliang Students’ Union Dimapur (ZSUD) condemned the alleged threats and intimidation received by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) relating to the proposed data collection of the non-Nagas in Dimapur.

In a press release, the ASUD said that it stands united and in support of the initiative and that “any attempt to derail this process will be met with unflinching resistance”.

The union added that it will go to any extent necessary, using all lawful means at its disposal, to defend and uphold the legitimate rights of the Naga people.

Stating that the ILP is not a persecution drive but a protective framework, it said that any individual, group, or organisation attempting to threaten, harass, or intimidate those engaged in this pursuit will face dire consequences.

The ASUD called upon all Naga tribes, units, and concerned citizens to come forward and stand united in this struggle.

The ZSUD, while expressing “deep concern and outrage over the recent threat calls,” called the action an attack on the fundamental values of accountability and transparency.

Stating that the DNSU’s initiative to collect data on non-Nagas is in the best interest of ensuring lawful documentation and enhancing communal harmony,” it said that the union stands in solidarity with the DNSU and strongly condemns the cowardly threats.

Further, it called upon the concerned authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
