Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): The deplorable road condition along Midland-PWD road-Forest colony has forced the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (Dayo) Duncan unit to take up the initiative of voluntarily repairing the stretch of road.
President of Dayo (Duncan unit), Lipoksunep Jamir told Eastern Mirror that the work is being done with the organisation’s fund and through the donations of well-wishers. He added that the repair work started at around 8 pm on Saturday evening.
The repair work would cover the road near Nagaland Multispeciality Hospital and Research Centre, Midland, PWD road and near Forest colony gate.
Jamir informed that Dayo members would be present at the worksite and they had also taken permission from the Dimapur deputy commissioner to carry out the work.
He added that they would repair the road this time but would approach the concerned department in-charge to look after the maintenance of the road.
The president said that the ‘road condition was getting worse day-by-day’ and it was difficult for the commuters to travel this stretch of road, especially during the rainy season because of water stagnation.
He went on to inform that the filling of the potholes would be completed by Saturday night itself.
