Ao church invites ACAUT; prays for anti-graft activists

Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): The Ao Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship of Dimapur, comprising 24 churches, invited leaders of the anti-corruption platform, the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) to a prayer and fellowship program at the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) on March 13.
Speaking during the program, Rev. Lanu, pastor at Dorgapathar, congratulated the ACAUT leaders “for not wavering or succumbing to tribalism, dirty politics, and money-power but staying focused in their aims and objectives…” updates from the ACAUT stated in a press release on Monday. This, he said, was the key to “the belief” in the ACAUT movement unlike others.
“Also, the ACAUT has remained apolitical and neutral and cautioned it against succumbing to such pressures,” the press release stated of the church leaders’ advice to the organisation.
Rev. Maong Aier, associate pastor of the DABA, encouraged the leaders stating that people everywhere were praying for the ACAUT movement. He requested the ACAUT of Nagaland to constantly engage with the senior citizens for their wisdom and blessings too.
“He also stressed that in other Christian countries, the church leaders and city planners closely co-ordinate in planning the needs of the cities,” the press release stated.
Likewise, Rev. Lima, associate pastor of the DABA, acknowledged that some of the activities of ACAUT were indeed the job for the churches. “Rev. Lima spoke against corruption, esp. those government officials who owned palatial properties which is impossible given their salary. He further said that the ACAUT Movement was a prophetic movement and that the people are looking at ACAUT to show them directions,” the press release stated.
The Ao Baptist Church Pastors’ Association prayed for the ACAUT on a number of points: To praise God for his divine leading hands in all the activities of the ACAUT till date; to pray for the many issues and agenda that may be taken up by the government and other social organizations so that desirable changes may take place in Nagaland; to pray for the good health, wisdom and success to all the ACAUT members and their families; to pray that ‘all forms of dishonesty’ come to an end in Nagaland; to pray that God-fearing men and women, and able leaders will be elected to lead.
“The ACAUT Nagaland is greatly humbled and touched by the faith and love shown by the pastors association and for the generous donation of Rs. 2, 30, 000 (two lakhs and thirty thousand). Such validation and encouragement by the church should surely spur all right thinking citizens and civil society movements / organizations for far reaching and desirable social change,” the organisation stated.
