  • The faculty of NIT Nagaland at a gathering, celebrating their selection for the prestigious PAIR research grant.


  • DIMAPUR — The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland has been selected as a spoke institution under the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) grant scheme, awarded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

  • According to an update, selected through a highly competitive national process that involved top-ranking institutions as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the institute will be part of a national hub-and-spoke research network anchored by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, one of the seven designated hubs under the initiative.

  • This selection comes with substantial funding support of INR 10 crore, which will enable NIT Nagaland to undertake advanced, interdisciplinary research in priority areas. Under the PAIR project, the institute will focus specifically on vertical advanced materials and manufacturing.

  • Speaking on it, Director Prof. Dr. A Elayaperumal stated that this milestone marks a new chapter in NIT Nagaland’s research journey. It reflects the relentless efforts of the faculty and researchers and a recognition of the institute's capability to contribute to the national scientific mission. While the focus under the PAIR project is advanced materials and manufacturing, there is also a commitment to expanding research endeavours across other verticals such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics; semiconductor materials and manufacturing; quantum technologies; drone technology; biomedical science; and cyber security.

  • The ANRF-PAIR initiative aims to strengthen India's research ecosystem by fostering collaboration among leading academic institutions, enabling capacity building, and facilitating infrastructure sharing and mentorship.

  • It was mentioned that this achievement brings national-level recognition to NIT Nagaland and opens opportunities for transformative research, impactful collaborations, and scientific contributions.
