[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he historicity of this planet Earth speaks, ”A morally corrupt man will always betray his nation”. He not only betrays his nation but also betrays his people, city, town, society, family, God and himself. As such we have a broken life, family and society. Our cities and towns are being labelled as ‘just mud and dust’ by foreign visitors.
There must be another way. One may have great ideas for his nation, people and society, and plan on paper a well- developed country or state with a sustainable economy or a new world order but for its implementation, new society with integrity and commitment need be built with new people; we are to be new people – free from a morally corrupt modern day society.In order that the new society does not remain just a romantic vision, we must reorganise into a people who can trust and commit to each other. This confidence can only be built in a people of strict integrity and commitment who are not swept off by immediate selfish indulgence and moral corruption.
A morally corrupt man will always try to achieve his personal goals or pleasures without first paying the price in pain or bother that his actions might “jeopardize the sacred right” of another person.
This is illicit pleasure of a morally corrupt man, unethical and immoral seeking unbridled liberty with absolute individual autonomy to undermine the moral convictions and ethical philosophies that have hitherto held sway down the ages and to counter with claims of greater knowledge.
We Nagas are too impulsive at creating problems by not guarding our identity, originality and culture and not respecting genuine leaders of God fearing type, but prompt to follow the wrong guides, thereby becoming stumbling blocks to positive change and development. If you want anything for yourself selfishly, everything goes wrong in whatever you do.
Our Naga problems are never solved and the core problems seem to be problems of illegitimate pleasures for our lack of integrity. There has to be another way if we are to survive as a people and a nation.
Naga society today seems to be under famine of truth, trust, harmony and justice. We hide behind a façade of arrogance and short-cuts of earning money doing practically nothing and behaving as if we cannot survive without a government job or a contract. As such too many people are chasing very few Government posts followed by fighting, rampant corruption and creating animosities between ourselves.
The most important factor to nurture a people is to nurture its “human element” which has to be drawn in the right attitude and direction at all costs. Crisis is represented by two characters – danger and opportunity. Let’s convert our crisis or weaknesses into opportunities and strengths with courage and integrity through our faith in God.
“Nagaland for Christ” our favourite declaration bases on the premise that all Nagas abide by the teachings of Christ who is our Lord and Saviour. It surely is a covenant between God and us to which we are bound without choice.
How beautiful! But the question remains, are we true to ourselves or are our heart decayed and judgement hypothetical? Let us restore and retain transparency and make “Nagaland for Christ” a genuine blessing instead of making it a curse. Truth prevails in the society when people are in truth and integrity.
Never forget to put on the girdle of our loin with truth and integrity at all costs and always. Truth and integrity cannot be borrowed, those will have to come out of ourselves. Let truth be truth and lie be lie.
A person of integrity seeks the truth in all things and attempts to apply it at all times. Truth simply means that which interprets life the best, the exact contrary of betrayal. It may be a physics truth, spiritual truth, a psychological truth or nutritional truth.
It is that which best explains how life is to be lived and what life is all about at its deepest meaning and purpose.
