Dimapur, June 28 (EMN):
An unconfirmed report of a taxi driver from Lengrijan in Dimapur testing positive for Covid-19 was doing the rounds on social media on Sunday evening, triggering panic among the residents of the commercial hub — yet again.

A highly reliable source informed Eastern Mirror that the person’s status was not confirmed yet as the result of his samples were still being awaited.

He was made to undergo testing because one of the returnees to Mokokchung he had recently ferried, tested positive on Sunday via TrueNat.

“As per protocol, any driver or frontline worker has to be in quarantine after they come back and be tested as soon as possible; the test result is yet to be declared,” said the source, refuting claims that the driver had tested positive.

In a WhatsApp picture that was in circulation, the house of the taxi driver was depicted as ‘under containment and sealed off by the chief medical officer, Dimapur’.

When asked about this, the source replied that this was ‘all protocol’. Moreover, it was informed that other families were also residing in the same compound as the taxi driver.

“Be it negative or positive, these are all precautionary measures that have to be taken if the slightest threat is detected,” said the source.
