[dropcap]A[/dropcap]n organization representing the eastern regions of the state on Tuesday served an ultimatum to the Home department and the School Education department to fulfill what the students called an “agreement” that was entered with the two.
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) issued a press release on March 3, lamenting that backdoor appoints continue in the state’s services while anomalies in recruitment of teachers remain unresolved.
The ENSF said it had been “patiently waiting” for the state government to implement an ‘agreement signed with the state government” on November 26.
“On the recent advertisement of 362 adhoc primary teachers’ posts, the federations seek to know from the department as to what modality would be applied for the recruitment of the same. Any modalities for recruitment should be accepted by both the parties during recruitment so as to avoid anomalies and irregularities in the process,” the ENSF stated to the School Education department. Likewise, in regard to the issue of 304 teachers’ posts under the RMSA, the ENSF asserted that recruitments should have been completed by March 25; the 304 teachers should be placed in the school by April 5. “It should be noted that written examination had been conducted in the year 2013 but no calling letter for viva had been served till date. Further, the government had assured that those 304 will be in the school on the first day of the academic session 2014,” the organization stated.
The ENSF also stated that the recruitment for mathematics and science teachers ought to be “made open to all until such time there is a candidate from the six tribes having requisite qualification.”
“On the agreement pertaining with the Home department…the federation further questioned the authority concern as to why numerous backdoor appointments continues to be made despite of the fact that department has excess employees and the state government at financial crunch?” In this regard, the group has asked the government that “308 posts inclusive of all ranks should be advertised on or before 25th march 2015.”
The press release state further: “It may be noted that the Federation had temporary called off its proposed boycott on 1st Dec’ 2014 statehood celebration in honor of the visit of the honorable prime minister in the state. Moreover, the date line given as on 26th Jan had been silenced considering the political confusion in the state.”
The organization has appealed to the government to implement the “agreement” before the end of the financial year 2014-2015.
“Failure to implement the same by 25th March 2015, the federation may be compelled to take its own course of action for which the 6 federating units under ENSF have been directed to be mentally and physically prepared for the same,” the ENSF stated.
