IMPHAL, AUGUST 6: A day after the bomb explosion that took place near state museum complex where two individuals including a CRPF personnel and minor girl were injured, another power bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered in the heart of the Imphal town this morning, reports in Imphal said.
The IED was detected near the approach road located in between Army’s Defence PRO office and Johnstone higher secondary school campus around 6.30 am in the morning and it was safely defused by the state bomb experts team after about 3 hours gap, sources said.
The distance between the day’s bomb recovery site and location of the bomb blast which took place near state Museum complex at around 5.40 pm on Friday was barely 50 metres away,it added.
Meanwhile protesting Friday’s bomb explosion, the women vendors of the temporary women’s market in Imphal staged a sit in demonstration by ceasing their daily activities in front of their market sheds.
The sheds were newly developed as an alternative site after the iconic women market complex was badly damaged during January 4 earthquake in the state which claimed 10 lives injuring 120 others besides damaging nearly 3000 buildings and structures, appealed not to repeat such unwanted acts in and around the market area.
Meanwhile the state police have intensified their security measures in and around the Imphal by conducting frequent frisking and checking of the vehicles and passerbys today.They also conducted a search operations at Kwakeithel akham leikai in Imphal in the morning.
No armed group or individuals have claimed the responsibility of yesterday’s bomb explosion near state Musuem complex as well as the day’s bomb recovery till the report goes to the press.
