Dimapur, Sep. 13 (EMN): The 43rd College annual sports week of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, Nagaland with the theme “Soar towards the goal” got underway on Wednesday at the parade ground Tuensang with Col. Samrat Sengupta, Commandant, 40th Assam Rifles Tuensang as the chief guest in the inaugural programme. Col. Sengupta in his inaugural speech encouraged the students to take active part in sports because physical well- being is essential in one’s life. Participation in various sports helps us to develop our personality and can make young people good leaders in future. When we get involved in sports we develop a positive sense of fair competitiveness to achieve something in life. Therefore, he encouraged the students to take keen interest in sports events. He declared the sports open by kicking-off the ball.
The college sports week is a three days event various outdoor and indoor games will be played. The students have been divided into four houses namely- Red Falcons, Green Hawks, BlueKestrels and White Eagles. The sports week will culminate on Friday, September 15.
