DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Annual General Body meeting of the priests working in the Diocese of Kohima was held in Pastoral Centre, Dimapur today.
On the occasion, a foundation stone for the Priests Home was blessed by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, in the presence of all the priests. The Priests’ Home is meant as the residence of the diocesan priests after their retirement. The meeting of the priests is an annual event when both the diocesan and the religious belonging to the different congregations working in the diocese are called together by the bishop of the diocese to reflect, evaluate and share reports of the various activities and the mission of the church in the parishes, the schools and other institutions and to plan out for the coming year. This year a major portion of the time was spent discussing on the proposed ‘Ten Year Pastoral Plan’ for the diocese.
On December 15, the priests spent half- day in prayer and reflection. The talk for the reflection was given by Fr. George Punnolil, the financial administrator of the diocese.
Bishop James, in his concluding remarks, thanked and appreciated the good work being carried out by the fathers, in spite of the difficulties and problems faced in the places of their work.
