Annual Children’s Library Fair Held at Sangtamtilla GMS
DIMAPUR — The Annual Children’s Library Fair was held at Government Middle School, Sangtamtilla village, led by chairperson Thangliba from Class 2 on Monday.
During the event, attendance accolades for 2023-2024 were presented to students by S Lithungo Lotha, with prizes awarded by the chief guest, Nilokato, AEO of the Education department in Dimapur, according to a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Nilokato lauded the Nagaland Centre for Human Development and Information Technology (NCHD&IT) for its productive programmes aimed at improving the quality of education for children.
Stating that libraries provide a wonderful opportunity for children to read and explore subjects beyond their regular syllabus, he emphasised that reading skills should be monitored and supported, as this will lead to positive outcomes.
“Let us commit to this initiative and work together to raise a generation of avid readers and writers. Reading helps students build empathy, so we should strive to make libraries safe and welcoming places for them to connect with the world of literature,” he said.
A short speech was also delivered by Asemba Mongzar, chairman of Sangtamtilla village, along with remarks from Tonglichem, chairman of the School Management Council, and Tilila, school incharge of GMS Sangtamtilla.
