Anganwadi workers pledge to improve nutritional status

Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): Anganwadi workers across the state have pledged to keep themselves well nourished and spread the message of healthy eating among friends and family and to avoid purchasing unhealthy food. They have also pledged to promote safe cooking and eating habits as well as practice healthy hygienic habits.

Anganwadi workers took the pledge during the launched of Poshan Maah held in Longleng, Tseminyu and Noklak districts on the theme “Converging towards a healthy walk through life.”

The Poshan Maah in Longleng was launched by the CDPO) of Longleng, Longlang Luckpan, in his office’s complex on September 3 in the presence of Anganwadi and healthcare workers of the district.

Speaking at the launch event, Longlang Luckpan highlighted the role and responsibilities of the healthcare workers at the grassroots. He also administered the Poshan pledge to the healthcare workers and other officials, stated a DIPR report.

Working experiences were shared by Anganwadi workers namely Merenchenla and Limayangla, while guidelines related to Poshan Maah activities were shared by Chingyang, block coordinator of Longleng and concluded with a closing remarks said by L Shamdok Menlei Phom, ICDS supervisor of Longleng.

Poshan Maah is observed every year in the month of September. During the month-long programme, various activities would be carried out with the objective to prevent mal-nutrition among children, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls in all the Anganwadi centres.

In Tseminyu, Poshan Maah was launched by the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Tseminyu, Longasen Lotha, on September 3 in the conference hall of the BDO’s office in Tseminyu town.

Speaking at the programme, the ADC lauded the CDPO and staff for carrying out the various activities and schemes under the Social Welfare department. He also urged the Angawadi workers to be committed to their assigned duties.

Menokhrielie, CDPO of Tseminyu, highlighted about Poshan Abhiyaan.

Noklak district also launched the Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 on September 1 at CDPO’s office in Noklak town.

Speaking at the inaugural function, senior supervisor at CDPO’s office, Noklak, P Hemping, highlighted health and nutritional care for children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers. In order to accomplish the target, he stated that it should be the duty and responsibility of all the line departments to work hand in hand and make the mission a people’s movement through the support from local administrative bodies, village councils, SHGs and the community as a whole.

The Poshan pledge was administered to all the Anganwadi workers.
