Angami Catholic youth convention underway in Kohima

Kohima, Jan. 19 (EMN): The 31st convention of Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) got underway at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima on January 19. The three-day convention is being organised on the theme “Celebrating faith, celebrating culture.”

The main speaker of the inaugural programme Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, spiritual director of ACYA, speaking on the theme called upon the youth to respect the culture and urged them not to forget their roots. He has advised the youth to understand their roots and promote culture. While encouraging the youth to respect their parents, he said blessings come from the parents which is bestowed upon them by God.

Stating that God sometimes test mankind to make them stronger, he encouraged the youth not to give up in their endeavour but continue with stronger faith on Him, who is able deliver their aspiration. He advised the youth not to give up on Him saying ‘God listen to you and He will give you what you want.’

He also called upon the youth to live a responsible life and remain a true Christians. He also quoted the Bible verse from Mathew 6: 33 “But seek ye the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.” Stating that the cross signify our faith, he reminded the Catholic youth not to lose their faith no matter how much trial and temptation they are facing.

He also reminded about the importance of Rosary prayer and called upon the youth to make use of it. Kezo, while mentioning that Catholic is a minority in Nagaland, reminded the youth not to be disheartened stating that Jesus only had 12 disciples when he started his mission to preached the word of the gospel.

A total of 675 delegates from 35 villages are attending the convention held in Kohima.
