ANFPSA supports nation-wide movement

Dimapur, Dec. 7 (EMN): All Nagaland Fair Price Shops’ Association (ANFPSA) has extended full support to the ‘Nation-wide movement dharna’ of the All India Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Federation (AIFPSDF), which is being organised at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, from December 2 to the 13th.

The nation-wide movement is being organised to demand the long-pending demand and ventilating out grievances relating to different aspects of Public Distribution System (PDS) which concern the livelihood of the general populace, an update from ANFPSA president Hotoshe Sumi and general secretary Meijiang stated on Saturday.

The demands included restoration of kerosene oil quota and appoint erstwhile dealers as LPG dealers; enhancement of dealer’s margin to INR 250 per quintal and granting a minimum guaranteed income of INR 30,000 per FPS dealers every month.

It also demanded to ensure supply of pulse and edible oil at INR 20 less and iodised salt at INR 5 per kg less than the prevailing market price. The federation has also demanded against privatisation of PDS as contemplated by the union government as well as against the concept of “One nation, one ration card,” which would create serious operational complication for the states.

It had demanded to follow the distribution of essential commodities manually by all FPS and avoid the introduction of electronic Point of Sales (ePoS) device till the completion of Adhaar seeding and to withdraw Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The nation-wide movement in the form of dharna has been carried out during the winter parliament session in which every state was assigned on a rotation basis. Stating that the eight Northeastern states has been assigned for the agitation on December 9 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, ANFPSA team would also participate at the programme.
