Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has once again asserted its demand that recruitment of 110 sanctioned posts under the department of Higher Education should be done through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). In a press release issued on Sunday, the union stated that said posts were “recommended after rationalisation by the department, therefore these posts should be immediately sent to NPSC in toto for fair competition and recruitment.” The delay in the recruitment of these posts has resulted in “many unwanted situations where students have been affected in many means,” it stated. “The ANCSU having thoroughly understood the contract appointment matter would like to impress upon the state government that no contract appointed (sic) lecturers should be regularised under any circumstances.” It appealed to the state government to “immediately scrap” those assistant professors appointed on contract basis without the required qualification as per University Grant Commission (UGC) guideline and department service rule. “The union demands that no reservation should be given against the 110 sanctioned posts but only be recruited purely on merit basis. After which, the contractual lecturers who do not clear NPSC should be given prior information before termination. The state government should take adequate measures even if there arise need for contract appointment after recruitment through NPSC of the 110 sanctioned posts and such appointments should be made entirely based on the UGC guidelines,” the union stated. During such time of service, it stated, the contractual lecturers should also give maximum service to the respective college and the department should recommend extension of contract service only on the basis of need. “ANCSU strongly reminds the competent authority that paying no heed to ANCSU appeal shall invite ugly retaliation and no individual or party should risk in defying the positive approach of ANCSU which is absolutely for the wellbeing of the colleges fraternity (sic).”
