Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) is commemorating its 40th foundation day on August 2 in the capital town. The event will be conducted in the AMK conference hall in Kohima.
The event will coincide with another programme, a reception to recognise degree holders, updates from the organisation on Saturday informed. The students’ organisation issued a press release to the media on Saturday informing about the programmes.
The organisation was established in the year 1979, the ANCSU stated. The event will commence from 11:00 am, the updates stated.
According to the updates, Dr. Abemo Odyuo, registrar at Nagaland University will be the ‘guest speaker’ at the event.
As for the reception for degree holders, the ANCSU stated that it, as an “intellectual platform” for college students in the state, began to felicitate degree toppers from Nagaland University, and the State Council of Technical Education, and autonomous colleges from the year 2018.
“The unique and humble logic behind the introduction of felicitating the degree toppers is to encourage and elevate the competition towards higher education. Modern education and modern academic competition no longer belongs to mediocre (sic) but only to those who commit to perform by their hard work,” the organisation stated in its press release.
“In such an academic excellence society, felicitating the degree toppers is thought to invigorate the students for higher achievements.”
In the year 2018, the press release stated, the ANCSU stated that it had felicitated 17 Nagaland University toppers, eight State Council of Technical Education toppers and 28 autonomous college toppers.
The ANCSU has invited all its senior leaders, degree toppers and parents, well wishers and representatives from all the colleges to attend the program, the updates stated.
