Dimapur, Sept. 1 (EMN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has demanded for setting up of inquiry commission to probe into the fund utilisation of INR 3.71 crore for Khelhoshe Polytechnic, Atoizu under AICTE-NEQIP scheme within 30 days.

The union also demanded that the commission should bring out the report within one month from the date of setting up of the commission.

In a representation to the chief secretary of Nagaland, the ANCSU stated that the RTI filed by the union on November 15, 2019 and received on February 12 this year revealed that INR 1.04 crore was received as first installment on April 4, 2014; INR 1.22 crore as second installment on May 7, 2015 and INR 1.44 crore as third installment on February 7, 2017. The total fund received was INR 3,71,60,000 and total amount received as fully utilised.

In reply to the RTI, 1622 copies of information were furnished; accordingly, it informed that the union visited the institute and witnessed the activities along with some lecturers of the institute. However, the union said it was ‘thoroughly unsatisfied with the claimed developments through the funds received’.

ANCSU said after the visit, it has asked the minister concerned and the department for setting up of inquiry commission for the said fund utilisation on February 16. However, it expressed displeasure at the “the lackadaisical response of the department and the union can never allow such unwelcoming progress in the department that decides the very future of the technical students”.

The union also demanded the authority to take cognisance of similar scheme implementations in other institutes.
