Miss Nagaland 2014 to be ambassador for adolescent health

Living up to the occasion of celebrating 25 years of the crown and the Naga women, the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) commemorated 25 years of Miss Nagaland’s existence and conducted the Miss Nagaland Pageant 2014 at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts, Jotsoma on Friday, the 7th of November, 2014. The event was co-sponsored by National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Veineinem Singsong beat sixteen other contestants to be crowned Miss Nagaland 2014 while Kaheli Chophy and Muluvesalu Keyho were crowned first and second runners-up respectively. Lululu Khesoh and Vilokali Sumi also made it to the five top finalists.
It was a night of big awards for the winners. The Miss Nagaland 2014 crown was sponsored by Toshimongla Metha. The three winners also won Lemon mobile phones and gift hampers from Sami Direct and Oriflame. Miss Nagaland 2014, Veineinem Singsong also won a gift hamper from shoe designer Filafi Fithu and Fit and Fine Gym. She also won a cash prize of Rs 1, 50,000; the 1st runner up received cash prize of Rs 1, 00,000 lakh and the 2nd runner up received a cash prize of Rs 70,000. Miss Nagaland 2014 will be the ambassador for adolescent health.
B. Sangki Konyak was crowned the Sami Direct Queen of Hearts sponsored by Sami Direct; Muluvesalu Keyho won the Miss Photogenic sponsored by Dream Looks Beauty Parlour; Teisovinuo Krocha won the Miss Perfect 10 sponsored by Mix Bag and LC Paunen Phom won Miss Talent sponsored by Jat Restaurant. Trinity Communications sponsored Spice Smart phones to all four Sub Title winners. Bangalore based Sami Direct, a pioneer in health science also sponsored gift hampers to all Sub Title winners. All subtitle winners received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each.
Besides the Miss Nagaland Pageant, other highlights of the evening included a repertoire of eye catching ensemble, sleek choreography and brilliant music. Miss Nagaland 2005, Tiarenla Jamir opened the event who walked down the aisle singing ‘I’m Alive’ accompanied by the 17 Miss Nagaland 2014 contestants. Italy based Naga shoe designer Filafi Fithu made an impressive debut of her stylish shoe designs, which was displayed by the Contestants – her first ever show in India. Naga Idol 2009 Ms Topeni K. Assumi gave a powerful rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’. When you believe was performed by Chubatola and Zhevitoli with guest appearance by Imtisenla Naga Orpheus Hunt 2011 finalist.
An important highlight of the event included performers from the past featuring Baby Jungtina as then and now singing her husband Tali Angh’s original ethnic fusion composition ‘When she walks’ with Ayim and Imlirenla Sayer. The contestants walked to their music in Ethnic fusion. Likewise noted designer and choreographer Bambi Kevichusa presented a memorable sequence ‘Phantom of the Opera’ along with the past Miss Nagaland winners.
Donning cowboy hats, former Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir joined Naga Idol 2007 Rokovotuo and Naga Idol finalist 2007 Lipok Longkumer in a special appearance of country nostalgic, which drew loud applause from the crowd. Other performers included Diethozo Nakhro singing – ‘You sang to me’ during the Final Walk. Another powerful rendition of Celine was performed by the very talented Venetolu along with violinist Tshezote Venuh.
Naga Orpheus hunt 2012 Wapang Longkumer honoured the Naga Beauty Queens with the song ‘One moment in time’ by Whitney Houston a powerful performance which was accompanied by projection of the winners from 1989 till 2013. The Stage and event concept as well as the event direction was done by the President BASN . Toshizen Longkumer was the contest choreographer.
The five judges for the Miss Nagaland Pageant were Asangba Chuba, IAS and Taxes Commissioner; Ate Kevichüsa, well known media producer; Filafi Fithu, shoe designer; Tali Angh, singer and songwriter and Joshua Sheqi, lawyer and Associate Director YouthNet . The judges were introduced by Miss Nagaland 2003 Sentienla Ababe.
The programme ended with an inspiring message of hope through the song ‘Carry your candle’ performed by Ms Lino Awomi, winner of Sumi Singing Star 2014 and Legame Di Voci Choir.
Later after the main event, a prize distribution programme was held where mementos were presented by BASN to the1st organizers, well wishers and sponsors .The participants and 2014 sponsors/ well wishers were also acknowledged.
