Kohima, March 22 (EMN):
The outbreak of Covid-19 has brought the world to a halt with schools and offices being closed down for precautionary measures.

Eastern Mirror took the opinions of various educators on how students can make use of the ‘social distancing and self quarantine’ holidays resourceful.
An academician remarked that students could improve their vocabulary, enhance their writing skills, reconnect with friends and family to make a productive holiday.
A professor of a college in Kohima, Tatongkala L Lohe asserted, “With the disruption of academic session caused by the pandemic Covid-19, the students should consider it as an opportunity to thoroughly prepare for the university exams.”
According to Lohe, “They (students) can also make use of this time resourcefully to help their parents and family at home.”
A lecturer from Kelhoshe Politechnic Atoizu Institute, Zunheboto and an avid reader remarked, “Students can visit the digital library and optimise their learning.”
A teacher from Phek district opined, “I think students can stay indoors and make use of their holidays by making their assignments entrusted to them by their teacher.”
Yet in another reply, a science teacher, Mangal Luwang said, “If this holiday is going to continue, I am planning to help the students by connecting through social media so that they can learn their lessons even during holidays.”
A Tenyidie teacher added that this holiday could be uitilised by the parents to teach their children cultural values, history and folklores while lamenting that many students don’t even know their own culture and languages in these times.
Meanwhile a music tutor remarked that music learners and students can improve their skills and gain confidence by practicing at home and make the best use of this holiday.
While an art teacher said, “Colours, sketch pens, crayons and papers are fascinating tools for children, so give them the space to paint their minds. Help them boost their imaginations and their strength.”
A life skills teacher in Kohima maintained that this holiday could be a time for students to re-connect with their family values, learn their school lessons as well as get their hand tested on things that they have learned.
With university and terminal examinations of colleges and schools approaching, some students revealed that they are going to prepare for their examinations, while others maintained that they are utilising the holiday to pursue their hobbies while also preparing for their examinations.
