Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): The department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organised awareness campaign at Ntu village.
The programme was attended by village council members, elders, school teachers, and students attended the programme.
Welcoming the gathering, head teacher of the school, Helen Kaurinta, expressed appreciation to the Forest department. She also informed that stakeholders had been cooperating with the department in conservation and protection of flora and fauna and will continue supporting in preserving nature.
The chairman of Ntu village council, Azanbo Kaurinta requested the department to upgrade the purchased reserved forest land to a wildlife sanctuary so that better way could be paved in.
PCCF & Chief Wildlife Warden SP Tripathi appreciated the efforts of the villagers in protection and conservation the nature. He appealed the people to continue with the noble act and advised them to submit the proposal through proper channel for which he assured his best possible assistance.
The programme was chaired by Caroline K Angami, wildlife warden, Dimapur while a vote of thanks was proposed by Isaac Zeliang.
“Ntu perched on the hill with the valley known as Barrak Valley receives thousands of guest bird, Amur falcon every year. During 2015, large numbers in lakh visited the valley. However, 2016 was comparatively less. But this year, Amur Falcons again arrived in terms of lakh,” the press release stated.
