Among Us: How to vent like a pro? Tips and tricks of venting explained

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Most of us have probably been caught by a crewmate whilst trying to do the ultimate vent kill simply because we didn’t know how to do a vent kill properly. It has happened to the best of us and it is relatively hard to pull off a vent kill unless you know what you are doing.

‘Among Us’ is an online multiplayer social deduction game released in 2018 by Innersloth that has recently gained popularity and has become a mainstream game on major streaming platforms like Twitch, Facebook and YouTube in 2020.

Thanks to streamers like Pokimane, Disguised Toast, Valkyrae, Corpse Husband, Pewdiepie, Yeti, Trainwreck, 5UP, Ludwig and others the game has taken over the streaming scene and has sent the entire gaming community into a viral frenzy. With players from all over the globe playing the game for the memes and ‘1000 IQ imposter’ plays, the game has become one of the biggest gaming titles in 2020.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably know about Among Us and has probably tried playing the game at some point with your friends.

Venting is an essential ability in Among Us, which allows impostors to move around the map. Vents (or holes depending on the map) can be found throughout all three of the maps in Among Us. If used properly, vents can become a useful tool for an impostor to kill a crewmate discreetly and pop out somewhere else to avoid raising any suspicion on them.

For those of you who want to become better at venting, here are some few tips and tricks to do the ultimate vent kill:

• Be aware of security cameras on the map. A red light flashes on the cameras if somebody is watching the security feed from the cameras. This could mean that someone could easily spot you going in or jumping out of a vent. Time your vent jumps after making sure it is away from the security cameras or if there are no red lights flashing on the cameras.
• Make sure that you do not come out of a room that no one saw you entering in the first place. This would immediately put ‘sus’ on you as an impostor.
• You can always hide inside vents but while inside vents both the Sabotage and the Kill button cooldown timers are paused. This means that you cannot keep hiding inside vents for the entirety of the game since you need to reset your cooldown for your next kill.
• Always close the door while venting so that Crewmates cannot determine your identity.
• Do not use vents just to move around. This will only increase the likelihood of you being called out as an impostor.
• Do not vent out of rooms you were seen entering. If that happens you will have to kill the witness or gaslight the crewmate and hope that the other cremates buy your alibi.
