Amit Shah praises Kannada film ‘Kantara’

Amit Shah is the latest minister from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet to shower praises on the Kannada blockbuster film ‘Kantara.’

“I have just seen Kantara. After seeing Kantara, I came to know that this state is of such rich traditions. There are very few areas in the country where people make the country prosperous by farming despite the adverse situation,” Shah said during an event held in Puttur, Karnataka, on February 11.

The Union Home Minister was taking part in the golden jubilee celebration of the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Limited (CAMPCO) in Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district.

Earlier, Union ministers including Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur, minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, and a couple of Karnataka state BJP leaders hailed the Kannada movie.

‘Kantara’ is one of the biggest blockbusters of the Indian cinema in 2022. Apart from playing the lead role, Rishab Shetty penned the story and directed the film, which had Sapthami Gowda in the female lead. Hombale Films, which rose to national limelight with ‘KGF’ series, funded the flick made with the budget of INR 16 crore.

Following unprecedented success in Kannada, ‘Kantara’ was dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Telugu languages. The movie went on to gross over INR 400 crore at the worldwide box office.

Meanwhile, there were rumours of Urvashi Rautela being roped in for the second part of ‘Kantara’ after she shared a photo of her with Rishab Shetty with a caption: #KANTARA 2

However, sources have informed The Times of India that it is a baseless rumour. “All the rumours around Urvashi Rautela’s casting in Kantara 2 are totally baseless and untrue. Recently, Urvashi just happened to be on the same premises as Rishab Shetty, where she requested to meet the Kantara fame star and he politely obliged. She posted the picture clicked with him with a cryptic caption, giving rise to these completely false rumours,” the daily quoted the source as saying.
