MOKOKCHUNG — ‘AMAJOK aser Tanga Otsütem’, a book of short stories written in Ao, was released on Saturday by Rev. Dr. M Rongsen, president of Ao Riju, at the conference hall of Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung.
The book is authored by Maongienla, assistant professor, department of English, FAC.
Speaking on the occasion, Maongienla thanked all who contributed towards the completion of the book, mentioning specifically two of her former students who helped her design the book cover and the interior illustrations.
She also expressed gratitude towards the department of English for the support she received while writing the book.
In her review of the collection of short stories, associate professor of English, Bendangsenla, noted that unlike other collections, "AMAJOK aser Tanga Otsütem" is tied to a character by the name of Aonaro, and while it is not mentioned in the stories, as one reads through, one becomes aware of it.

Bendangsenla added that the characters in the stories are not explained in detail, but their actions and behaviours reveal their biographies; this, she said, is the author's talent. She also stated that in many books, the characters are the mouthpiece of the author, but in this one, the characters have no agenda.
She claimed that the work captures a housewife's angst and the sense of lack that women experience in society.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. I Wati Imchen, principal of FAC, thanked the author for choosing FAC for the book's release.
The book will be available for purchase on Amazon. Caption: Dr. I Wati Imchen (left), Maongienla (centre), and Rev. Dr. M Rongsen (right) after the release of the book ‘AMAJOK aser Tanga Otsütem’ on Saturday.
