The road from Kasha via Pughoboto to Ghathashi is being executed under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR). The first phase of black topping from Kasha to Pughoboto will be hopefully finished by the end of this year, according to Parliamentary secretary for Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Vikheho Swu who inspected the road on Saturday.
Effectiveness of maintaining all-weather roads remains a big challenge in Nagaland. There is no denying the fact that during rainy season, most of the roads become muddy and during dry season dust takes over the roads.
The people’s long felt desire to have better roads is apparently heading towards the right direction with black topping of existing road from Kasha junction (Tseminyu) to Pughoboto town.
The Parliamentary Secretary also informed that 22 villages under Pughoboto sub-division and most of the commuters from Zunheboto, parts of Phek, Mokokchung and Tuensang are also plying on this route. To ensure better connectivity and communication to the people, the North-East (SARDP-NE) project for construction of 2-lane road, which was awarded to M/s Maytas-Gayatri JV, from Chakhabama to Zunheboto is now in deplorable road condition. With no option, commuters from Zunheboto now take alternative route from Kohima via Pughoboto to Zunheboto.
He was happy and optimistic that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio himself plying through all the way from Kohima via Pughoboto to Zunheboto during ‘Ahuna festival’ eyewitnessed the road conditions and so will apparently do something for the people’s long felt desire to have better roads.
