KOHIMA — Naga musician and composer, Alobo Naga, lamented that majority of the musicians in Nagaland have ‘lost track’ without realising their dreams despite the music industry making major strides in recent times.

Speaking at the 11th Musician Fellowships at Symphony Cafe, Kohima, on Sunday, Alobo observed that most of the musicians from Nagaland are losing track and are losing talents to alcohol.

It is “so easy” to fall into temptation, which is one of the “tests” for Christians that comes in many ways, he said. He added that many musicians from the state cannot reach their goal because of the temptations.

Alobo, who has been a full-time music professional for a decade now, shared that ‘dreaming big’ kept him going in all these years despite all odds. As young people, one ought to have dreams, he said.

Recounting the challenges he faced when starting out as a full-time musician in 2010, he said that people including friends and family members rejected him, rebuked and laughed at him.

He also shared on how he prayed and fasted for days as he did not have money to record songs during his initial days. He, however, stated that doors opened for him as sponsors stepped in to pay for the recording fees.

‘You are a musician because you have talent and God gave you that gift’, he told the gathering and urged them to trust in Him.

Core committee member of the fellowship, Mele Pucho, said one of the main purposes of the event was to connect musicians in Nagaland, have fellowship together and use their talents to glorify God.

Started in 2021, the Musicians Fellowship under the ‘connecting musicians’ is held on the last Sunday of every month at Symphony Cafe, Kohima.

Highlights of the fellowship included praise and worship by unified worship, songs by Akhriezie and willing souls and instrumental performance by Symphony.
