[dropcap]‘I[/dropcap]ndihut,’ a Nagaland based e-Commerce created by Yanpvuo and Liyo Kikon in 2013 announced the indihut artist of the year through various polls. Indihut’ aims to promote independent and indigenous artists and has received 48,624 downloads in the past 5 months from over 51 countries. Singer, Producer, Philanthropist, Music Teacher, Rally Driver, SVEEP Youth Icon and the list goes on for Alobo Naga who has been named as indihut’s Artist of the Year. Polkacafe also featured Alobo Naga along with Tetseo Sisters among legends as the top 30 vocalists that changed the face of indie music in India. Yet he chooses to remain grounded and make an effort to spend time with his family, go and support other artists by standing front row at their concerts, raising funds for little orphans and needy children and in spite of all the trolls and critics, Alobo Naga manages to set new standards for artists around the country as he does for himself. As SVEEP youth icon, Alobo has travelled to numerous schools and colleges to spread the message of clean election where the youths can work together to build a brighter and more progressive society.
As the global music scene is rapidly changing and evolving where indie(Independent) artists have stepped in to dominate the market at par with big labels and producers, here in the extreme eastern part of the country, music icon from Nagaland ‘Alobo Naga’ who has performed more than fifty shows in 2014 across the country and abroad from Bangalore, Goa, Delhi, Itanagar, Bombay, Guwahati, Shillong to Edinburgh(Scotland), having covered thousands of kilometres and choosing not to lay back and relax but even taking the initiative to organize a charity event for little orphans. Alobo managed to raise over 3 lakh rupees after all the expenditures with his charity event ‘Coffee for a Cause’ which brought in the biggest artists in Nagaland under one roof, fusing their musical abilities for a great cause. When it comes to hard work, there is hardly any artist who could measure up to the commitment and energy which Alobo possess, who even jumped straight into a SUV after a exhausting concert and raced at a car rally in Kohima! Besides the exhausting tours, Alobo also managed to release hit singles on indihut which went viral starting from his animated version of Diwali Special Sholay Tribute to Anushree experiments’ ‘It’s All Right’ as well as working with the band ‘Alobo Naga and the Band’ to release their hit single ‘All We Have is Now’.
Once again, Alobo Naga has reassuringly proven that Music has no boundary, race, colour, caste, creed, religion and all the man made stratifications and this universal law which aids the cohesion of humanity is seen in his facebook album ‘Photos with Love from Around the World’ where his fans from around the world from Egypt, Germany, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, France and several countries sent their photos and wishes. The typical fairytale of a boy from a small town with big dreams who had to struggle, create his own opportunity where there was none and moved on to become one of the biggest youth icons still manages to remain modest as he mentions in his status update, “To all those who supported me and loved me. I am humbled and so grateful, you guys are the reason I work hard every single day, you give me motivation and inspiration to do better. God bless you all, I am nothing without you guys and your support please do continue to support me and my music always.” There is absolutely no substitute to hard work in any profession and for those who dare to dream big and work hard to achieve it are the ones who live to see their dream turn into reality.
