Dimapur, Nov. 8 (EMN): The Ministry of Rural Development has revealed that for the year 2020-21, Nagaland had 1,20,28,477 person-days generated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) 2005.
'Person-days' is the number of people working per day, times the number of days worked.
Further, a total of 80,99,638 person-days were generated with a total expenditure of INR 29.5204 crore under MGNREGA scheme in Nagaland as of September 30, 2020.
According to the Nagaland chief minister dashboard, 4,29,368 are active job card holders and 5,11,402 are active workers. As per district-wise distribution, Dimapur has the highest active job cards with 73,137, followed by Kohima with 50,786. The district with the least active job cards holders is Longleng with 21,584 as of September 30, 2020.
Moreover, a total of 7630 works has been ongoing under MGNREGA scheme; Dimapur has the highest number of ongoing work with 1380, followed by Wokha with 1270 and Phek with 93 as of September 30, 2020.
Wokha as the highest expenditure with INR 8.1779 crore, followed by Dimapur with INR 7.9141, Kohima with INR 4.717, Mokokchung and Longleng shows zero expenditure as of September 30, 2020.
Nationwide, Rajasthan as the highest person-days generated with 29,19,96,496, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 25,76,53,307. Among the Northeastern states, Assam leads with 2,98,37,212, followed by Meghalaya with 1,75,01,053, Manipur with 1,55,68,898,and Mizoram with 1,38,40,311.
