All three candidates cast vote in 14th Southern Angami-I AC

Kohima, Nov. 3 (EMN): Casting of votes for bye-election to the 14-Southern Angami-I assembly constituency started as scheduled on Tuesday morning and all the three candidates voted in their respective polling stations.
The Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) candidate, Medo Yhokha, accompanied by his wife, voted at around 7:20 am at 14/18 Vikhozou GMS Kigwema polling station, while the Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate, Kikovi Kirha, voted at 14/12 Jakhama town hall polling station at around 6:20 am and the Independent candidate, Seyievilie Peter Zashumo, voted at 14/2 Lower Phesama polling station at around 7:59 am.

After casting their votes, each candidate expressed their confidence to win the bye-election. NPF candidate Kikovi Kirha said that “the people have their moral support on him and had decided to vote for him”. He added that although he contested from the opposition, he hopes to win the seat.
NDPP candidate, Medo Yhokha said that ‘the NDPP party will emerge victorious with a thumping majority to bring about a change’.
In the same vein, Independent candidate, Seyievilie Peter Zashumo, exuded confidence to win the seat.
He shared his aspirations and visions to work for the downtrodden- the villagers, farmers, and educated unemployed youth.
Polling percentage till 11 am
Meanwhile, the chief electoral officer (CEO) stated that the total polling percentage till 11 am from 14-Southern Angami-I assembly constitution was 47.3% and from 60-Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituency was 63.57%.
Voter turnout till 1 pm
(a) 14-Southern Angami-I (ST) A/C polling percentage: 57.1%
(b) 60-Pungro-Kiphire (ST) A/C polling percentage: 78.75%.
