DIMAPUR — The three-day 51st Biennial General Conference of All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), underway at Multi Purpose Hall, Zunheboto town, concluded on Wednesday.

According to an update, Nikheto Jimomi, president of Sumi Hoho, speaking on the occasion, said that the SKK has a significant role to play in society and urged the union to maintain moral integrity and continue to usher peace and prosperity for the Sumis and the Nagas.

He informed the attendees that Sumi Hoho’s recent Citizens Good Roads Campaign for 65 km in Zunheboto district was a success thanks to the contributions of the community, and that a work order for road construction has been issued under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III.

He urged everyone to work with the state government and civil society organisations to ensure the smooth construction of roads in Zunheboto district.

He mentioned that in some areas, there is still a lack of basic infrastructural development. Therefore, he opined that backward reservation should be implemented in specific pockets or blocks to ensure an equal distribution of development in the region.

The update further mentioned that the SKK elected its new team during the conference, with Gihuka K Zhimo as the new president and Toshika K Kiba as the general secretary for the 2024–25 tenure.
