Dimapur, Oct. 4 (EMN): The 5th All Sumi Badminton Championship, hosted by the Dimapur District Sumi Badminton Association (DDSBA), got underway this morning at DDBA indoor Badminton stadium, under the theme “Pursuit of Excellence.”
Jacob Zhimomi, MLA graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest and declared the tournament open.
The two days championship will give away a total prize money of Rs. 1, 75, 000.
Exhorting the participants, Khekaho encouraged the participants to play in true sportsmanship with conviction and will power in order to achieve success in what they pursue.
He said sports is also a platform for economic stability and popularity but it will not come easy without hard work, determination and consistency. He was of you view that Nagas have great talents and that we are good beginners but lack of consistency puts us behind others.
He also said there is no substitution for hard work.
Lauding the effort of Dimapur District Sumi Badminton Association for having organised the event in Dimapur, he encouraged the association to strive higher to tap the potential of upcoming shuttlers by giving them proper guidance in the days to come.
