DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has served a 27-day ultimatum to the state chief secretary for setting up of a separate scholarship nodal cell under the Higher & Technical Education department.
In an ultimatum on Friday, the union reminded of its earlier representation dated November 19, 2024, and sought the chief secretary’s “immediate and necessary action thereof.”
The ANCSU stated that the cabinet meeting held on June 10, 2019, had approved setting up of separate scholarship nodal cell under Higher & Technical Education department.

Subsequently, students were given hope to see a separate scholarship nodal cell through a notification dated October 25, 2019.
“However, the cell was only implemented in paper and not in action for the past years. The delay in bringing all kinds of scholarship schemes scattered in various departments under one cell/board only indicates the inefficiency of the state government.
“When the other NE states have a separate board/cell of scholarships and smoothing functioning without a sanction and disbursement delay from the Central Ministry, the state Government of Nagaland wilfully neglecting this grave issue is no less than assassination of students grievances and rights,” the union stated.
Arguing that the union sees no valid reason for further delays, given that this issue was already approved in the cabinet meeting, the ANCSU cautioned that failure to “act in action” within 27 days would compel the students community to initiate any befitting democratic protests.
