DIMAPUR — The All Madhya Pradesh Naga Welfare Society (AMPNWS) organised its first cultural day celebration at Labh Mandapam in Indore on June 25.
According to an update, the event witnessed the participation of more than 500 guests.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Imlimenba Walling, President of AMPNWS, welcomed the dignitaries, guests and participants and thanked them for their support for the society's maiden cultural event.
The exhortation was delivered by Dr. M Chuba Ao, National Vice President of BJP and Chairman of MARCOFED. He said the Northeast is endowed with rich cultural traditions with the shared goal of peace and that its diverse cultures continue to foster harmony and unity.
He also invited those present to visit Nagaland and experience the Hornbill Festival, popularly known as the "Festival of Festivals”.
The cultural segment featured a folk song by the Zeliangrong community, followed by "Rhythms of Life" presented by Chui Ruangmei and a cultural parade showcasing the traditions, attire and identities of various Naga tribes.
The highlight of the programme was the address by Daochier I Imchen, MLA and Advisor for Information and Public Relations and Soil and Water Conservation.

In his speech, he recalled his college days, when he and his friends started a small cultural forum in a library hall and organised a programme titled "Footprints". He said the initiative later grew into an annual event and expressed hope that the AMPNWS cultural day would similarly develop into a landmark annual celebration.
Speaking on the importance of preserving identity, Imchen said the rich cultural traditions and colourful attire of the Naga people reflect their identity. He encouraged everyone to preserve their heritage and share it with wider society so that future generations and people from other communities could appreciate the richness of Naga culture.
The event also featured short addresses by Pratap Nair, representative of the Mayor of Indore; Jai Kumrawat, representative of TRIFED under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs; and Neeraj Sankat, Founder of the Indore Social Welfare Foundation, who appreciated the initiative and conveyed their best wishes to the society.
The celebrations continued with an artist spotlight featuring Boss Meren, a cultural ballad presented by the Sumi community, and an investiture ceremony conducted by Rev. Lipokinba, Secretary of NMM.
An exhibition of local products was also organised. Tribes India showcased indigenous products through its stall, which attracted considerable interest from visitors throughout the event.
The evening concluded with a live concert featuring Boss Meren, Moko Koza, Chui Ruangmei, Emma Hmar and Litoka Kinimi.
