All India Police Shooting C’ship begins at Diphu

The 14th All India Police Shooting Championship 2013-14 began on Sunday at Assam Rifle Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) Diphu with Maj General Pankaj Sachdeva, Additional Directorate General, Assam Rifle inaugurating the meet. The inauguration ceremony was marked by smart turnout and excellent march past by all the participating team which was followed by an amazing band display and fire-power by the organizer after which Brigadier K Narayanan, DIG, ARTC&S delivered the welcome address.
A total of 32 police shooting teams from different parts of the country and central police organizations are participating in the competition which will culminate on February 28. A total of 11 lady police personnel are also taking part in the competition.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony, Major Pankaj Sachdeva, ADG Assam Rifle appreciated the teams and wished them a grand success. The General also urged upon the participants to put their best and to learn from each other during the event. The General added that firing competition is a test of perseverance, determination and strong will to remain focused which are three prerequisite of a professional policeman. The nature of the job entails great deal of risk, personal sacrifice and commitment and this can only be achieved if we are confident of our skills, be it firing physical standards or mental agility, he added.
