DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 5: The second day of the preliminary league rounds of the 65th BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2016 at Police Complex, Chumukedima saw exciting contests among the teams that played today, a press release from the organizers informed on Saturday.
In an evenly matched Group D encounter between Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, the fans were treated to a delightful game of football with both teams finding the net twice. However, neither of the team could score the winning goal and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Defending champions, Punjab Police took on Lakshadweep in Group A where they prevailed over the islanders and won the match with a convincing score of 6-1. In another Group A match between the Uttarkhand Police and CISF, the former defeated their opponent via a solitary goal.
Sikkim outplayed Rajasthan in Group G by 7 goals to nil in a one-sided match. In Group E, Tripura Police blanked Haryana Police 4-0. While in Group F Telangana Police prevailed 2-1 over Gujarat Police in an exciting match.
Kerala Police and Maharashtra Police locked horns in Group G and played out a crowd puller match that ended in a goalless draw. In Group H, Delhi Police overcame their opponent team of Jharkhand Police 2-1.
The opening ceremony of the tournament proper will take place on Monday (November 7) where chief minister, TR Zeliang will declare the Championship open. It will feature match between Nagaland Police and Railway Protection Force.
