KOHIMA — The all-girl NCC band from North East Region (NER) comprising talented musicians from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Kohima and St. Francis de Sales Higher Secondary School in Guwahati made history by proudly representing the region for the very first time at the 75th Republic Day celebration held in Delhi on Friday.

The band comprising of 45 junior wing cadets participated in the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path.

French President, Emmanuel Macron, attended the event as the chief guest with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, taking the salute amid a massive crowd.

“They (NER girls band) did well,” Kekhrieseno Solo, associate NCC officer (ANO), told Eastern Mirror upon their return to the DG NCC Campus in New Delhi.

“Though I was thrilled about our first ever performance, I was equally nervous as the girls,” said Solo.
