The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (AKTD) awarded meritorious students from the community at its 11th Excellence Award held today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, DC Court Dimapur. The event coincided with the 42nd general session of the AKTD and on the day nine Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) and thirteen High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) toppers were awarded with cash and certificates of appreciation from the AKTD.
Former Chief Secretary to the Nagaland government, Alemtemshi Jamir, who graced the occasion as the chief guest drew attention on the elements that enabled one to achieve excellence. Asserting on the present condition of Nagaland, both economically and politically, he questioned “In the midst of such a situation, what are the ingredients to excel?” “Understanding and a clear vision to do well are the primary ingredients to achieve excellence where with understanding and vision, there will be decision” said Alemtemshi. However, he added that it has to be accompanied by determination, perseverance and hard work.
When we talk of excellence, we must be aware of the elements that push one to excel and understand that the requisite qualities come from within. Everybody will tell you to work hard but it is within you that which will decide your opportunities. And with information technology touching almost every aspect of life today, he said that it has enabled the world to become a level playing field irrespective of topographical or economic gap.
DIGP (Range) Dimapur, Limasunep Jamir, the guest of honor emphasized on the importance of developing an intuitive mind. He said “the real education is the process of self-discovery that is how your intuition develops”. While stating that the knowledge one has is limited, he added that what one do not know is a huge area that we have to explore.
