DIMAPUR — As Nagaland heads to the polls on April 19, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has urged all voters in the state to exercise their right to vote with careful consideration, prioritising the well-being of the community and the country.

In a press statement, it said that the power of every citizen’s vote weaves the fabric of governance in a democracy and the act of voting is not merely a right but a sacred duty that shapes the destiny of the nation.

AKM emphasised the importance of responsible participation and encouraged all eligible voters to engage in the democratic process during the 18th Lok Sabha elections, stating that it is essential for all the voters in Nagaland to choose their candidate/party wisely.

“By making informed and conscientious decisions, voters can contribute to a fair and effective representation of their interests and concerns at the national level,” it said.

It reminded the people that the power to transform the nation lies within their hands, within their votes and that by selecting a candidate wisely and encouraging everyone to exercise their rights, they fortify the foundations of democracy, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.

AKM also appreciated the initiative and the clarion call of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) and Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) for the Clean Election Movement and appealed to all the ward chairman, village councils and citizens to ensure a free and fair election in their respective jurisdictions.

“The system of election needs to change in Nagaland and it has to start with us,” it concluded.
