AKM seeks deployment of medical specialist, surgeon at IMDH
MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has requested that the principal director of the department of Health and Family Welfare deploy a medical specialist and a surgeon to the Integrated Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, immediately.
In a letter addressed to the principal director, the AKM cited that the absence of these crucial medical professionals has left the IMDH in a dire situation, causing immense suffering to the local population.
It mentioned that since October 2022, the IMDH has been grappling with a severe shortage of medical staff due to the transfer of its medical surgeon and specialist without replacements.
It further added that this staffing crisis has created significant obstacles for patients in need of medical attention, forcing many to seek healthcare services elsewhere, incurring substantial financial and emotional burdens.
The AKM reasoned that the deployment of a medical surgeon and specialist to the IMDH is not only essential to alleviate the suffering faced by people but also crucial for ensuring timely and efficient medical intervention.
The AKM has appealed to the principal director to give immediate attention to the critical matter, emphasising the urgency of the situation for the well-being of the general public.
