Jorhat, Dec. 18 (EMN): The demand for scrapping of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) resonated during a mass rally organised by the Jorhat unit of All Assam Students’ Union (ASSU), which was joined by members of Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), at Jorhat town in Assam on Wednesday.

To express solidarity, a delegation of AKM lead by its president joined the mass rally in Jorhat.

Around 45,000 protestors joined the rally at Jorhat stadium. “Even people from the Assam chief minister’s constituency have joined the rally to oppose the CAA,” according to an ASSU official.

The president of AKM, said: “We are brothers, and in days to come also, we are always there for you. Continue to maintain the bondage of brotherhood between the two people.”

He also acknowledged the ASSU for their “strong determination to oppose the CAA to protect its people” and urged the people of Assam to make this protest into a people’s movement in the entire NE region.
